Public Transportation
There are various way to go to Takamori from Fukuoka, Miyazaki, Oita but, the best way is from Kumamoto. There is a Bus "Takamori-go" bound for Takamori via Kumamoto Sta. Kumamoto Sakuramachi BT and Aso Kumamoto Airport.

Sightseeing Spots
There are many power spots, shrines and temples that attract visitors. The mysterious feature is gaining popularity for a tourist spot not only in Japan but also from Overseas. So, you must visit when you get chance to come here.
Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine :
Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine is the most popular in Takamori for its extremely divine atmosphere. People feels very relax and peaceful at the top of the Shrine. It is said that the "Hogeto Iwa Stone" is a good luck charm and the "Nagi Tree" to protect the relationships. So, don't forget to touch it!
There are approx. 300 stairs (approx. 250 stairs from the bottom to the Shrine and approx. 50 stairs from the Shrine to top). It is around 5-6 km from the Takamori Sta/Takamori Chuo. So, tourist can access by tax (around 10 min) or by electric bicycle by 20 min.

Takamori Don No Sugi (A matching tree) :
Takamori Don No Sugi is power spot is very famous and often comes on TV, magazines. It is said that a famous actress visited here, embraced this tree and soon after got married. Later "Takamori Don No Sugi" has been popular for desire tree or a matchmaking blessing tree.
Takamori Don No Sugi” two impressively large cedar trees, with 10m circumference, over 400 years old history. It is around 2.6 km from Takamori Sta. Tourist can access by bicycle or taxi

Truck Train (Yusuge) :
Truck Train is a very beautiful locomotive train is running for the sightseeing purpose. The round way travel time is around 1 hour and currently running from Takamori Sta. to Nakamatsu Sta. The main attraction is to enjoy the scenic view of Aso mountain, feel the soar into the air.

Takamori Yusui Tunnel Park :
Takamori Yusui Tunnel Park has the volume of water running around 32 tons every minute. Wow! Actually, a Railway company of Japan wanted to build a rail line here but, during drilling huge amount of water came out. Then the construction was banned and "Takamori Yusui Tunnel Park" has been created.
There is a fountain and beautiful park at the entrance gate. It is around 1 km far from the Takamori Sta. So, tourist can visit there by walk or bicycle. The entrance fee is 300 Yen/person.

Shirakawa Suigen :
Shirakawa Suigen is very popular for its pure water. The water is cool and the temperature is around 14℃-16℃. This place is very peaceful, tourist can hear the river sounds. There are some cafeteria, soft-cream shops, crystal shops.

Food
Takamori is blessed with its natural ground water resource which makes the food very delicious. The most popular foods are Aka-ushi赤牛 (Red-beef) Bashashi馬刺 (Horse meat). Takamori Dengaku is the most popular local cuisine. It is baked on charcoal so the taste is very delirious. Even various vegetables, tofu with miso paste also baked.
